Jennifer Joy Wilson is a featured singer/songwriter on the "Sounds of Sunday." Jennifer was born in Castro Valley, and grew up in Hayward, California. The third of four children, she and her two older sisters and younger brother learned to sing four-part harmony and perform at an early age. Her parents, Blaine Wilson and Ruth Osmond Wilson (second cousin to the Osmond Brothers) were well-known in their ward as a popular singing duo. As members of the Livermore Valley Opera Association, they performed arias and broadway musicals for their church and local community.
Jennifer is most grateful for the opportunity of being surrounded by musical instruments while growing up. All four siblings mastered classical music before leaving home. Jennifer took up cello in the eighth grade and performed duets with her older sister who played violin. Her eldest sister Becky played and wrote songs on her guitar inspiring Jennifer to master the guitar on her own.
At age 14, Jennifer wrote her first song which she entered in the New Era at age 18, and it was selected as one of the finalists. Over the years, she became a two-time finalist in the Ensign worldwide music contest. From 2000 - 2010 she was the author of a seminary scripture mastery series known as "Sing the Scriptures." Along with her scripture CDs, as a classroom teacher, she had the opportunity to write and sell her children's educational music around the globe.
Jennifer gained her testimony of the Gospel when her father, adorned in exquisite white, stepped on stage and sang, "I Would Exhort You" as the Angel Moroni in the Oakland Temple Pageant. At the time, Jennifer was singing in the balcony chorus and was so touched by the spirit that she wept through the entire song.
In spite of her strong faith, Jennifer's life has been an uphill battle. She has survived a great deal of loss and heartbreak, and continues to struggle with some unusual health issues. The good news is that today she is married to a sweet, kind, loving man, Charles Fetz. He supports her every endeavor. They both happily reside in Sacramento, California where Charles tends his garden and plans to build Jennifer a studio in their backyard. "His queen" Jennifer plans on writing music 'til her last breath.
