The Sounds of Sunday (TM) is a syndicated form of the Sounds of Sunday, which aired over KLCE in Southeast Idaho from 1987 through spring 2023.
The Glenn Rawson Stories were added in August 1997 as an hourly feature. Today over 478 stories have been produced and they continue to be a special part of the Sounds of Sunday.
Why do we produce Sounds of Sunday?
For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward. Carl Watkins
Carl was raised in Lynwood, California graduating from Lynwood High School in 1962. At the age of 21, after studying for a year at Brigham Young University (BYU), he was called to serve as a missionary to the West Central States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served from March of 1966 through March of 1968. After his mission, he attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho (now BYU-I) where he also worked part-time as a Disc Jockey for a local radio station -- an experience that would fuel the next 40 years of his life as a professional broadcaster in California, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, and Utah.
Carl and Linda have 7 children, 24 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. They moved to Provo, Utah in 2018 to be near 5 of their children.
Glenn Rawson
Glenn was born and raised in Idaho. He grew up on a cattle ranch, and to this day still carries a little bit of cowboy in him. When he was 18 years-old he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and later served a mission in Iowa. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Wildlife and Range Science, and later from Idaho State University with a Masters degree in Education. He spent almost 20 years as a seminary and institute teacher.
In 1997 he began writing and producing stories for the radio. That work in radio later turned into production work for Church specials. Then in 2008 he joined with KJZZ television in Salt Lake City and the Joseph Smith Papers team to produce a weekly documentary television series entitled, The Joseph Smith Papers. In 2010 he teamed with Dennis Lyman and Bryant Bush to produce a new series called History of the Saints. Glenn and his wife Debbie have seven children and nine grandchildren. They live in Utah. Glenn is a simple storyteller whose goal is inspire and lift people.
