Tammy Simister Robinson

Tammy Simister Robinson

Tammy Simister Robinson won her first talent contest at the age of two and a half years.

As a teen, her exercises in arranging music developed into a gift for writing her own songs.

She graduated from Weber State University with a degree in Music Education and with a few years of teaching in the public schools behind her, Tammy branched out on her own to become a private voice teacher.

For over twenty five years she has enjoyed teaching hundreds of talented singers. In 2012, she joined the Adjunct Voice Faculty at Snow College in Ephraim, UT.

Since 1986, Tammy’s voice has been heard on hundreds of recordings including three solo albums of original songs and hymn arrangements. Her album, The Color of Hope earned an FCMA Pearl Award for Inspirational Album of the Year (2001) and In Thy Hands earned three additional Pearl Awards in 2005 including: Sacred Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.

In 2005, she began singing and recording with One Clear Voice, a women’s quartet that has earned additional Pearl Awards and recognition awards by the LDS Booksellers Association. Tammy has composed original songs for this group as well as writing the majority of the vocal arrangements.

Her song May I Serve Thee was twice broadcast worldwide during the LDS General Women’s Meeting and was printed in the Ensign Magazine. One of her children’s songs, Jesus Is My Shepherd, was published in the September 2013 Friend Magazine.

Along with family and music, she also enjoys good friends, good food and plenty of laughter (especially simultaneously), sewing, chocolate, half-hearted gardening, and a really good discount sale! Tammy is the the mother of two children (a married son and a college-age daughter) and she and her Salsa music-loving husband, Ray, live in Midvale, Utah.

Tammy Simister Robinson is one of the most familiar voices on the Sounds of Sunday.
